About the role

The purpose of this position is to ensure the safe, timely and efficient change of tooling related components for a manufacturing production line or machine changeover. The role supports production in wide-ranging areas including overall line set up, machine operation, and adjustments throughout the production run.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure daily line die sets and tool changes meet production requirements.
  • Review schedules and requirements for each production line.
  • Communicate with prior and incoming Team Leader/Shift Manager on schedule, die set changeover status, and known priorities.
  • Notify shift lead of unplanned downtime or risk of not meeting schedule/order requirements.
  • Coordinate line changes and die sets at shift start-up and changes for maximum effectiveness.
  • Change out dies and associated components as needed for line/machine changeovers.
  • Perform machine set-up after die change as needed.
  • Provide production support, including gripper install and adjustment, material adjustment, staging of changeover components, and machine operation.
  • Support die shop as needed, including transport and staging of tools to and from the die shop, and cleaning of tools.
  • Maintain all areas where equipment is being maintained to 6S standards.
  • Work on other shifts for training purposes upon request.
  • Report any unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Attain and maintain forklift certification.
  • Adhere to all company and location policies and safety rules.
  • Work extended hours when required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 3 years of maintenance experience.
  • 1 year of manufacturing experience; press experience strongly preferred.
  • Hydraulic training strongly preferred.
  • Crane certification strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • More than 2/3 of the time: Standing, walking, using hands to finger/handle/feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking or hearing.
  • 1/3 to 2/3 of the time: Climbing or balancing, stooping/kneeling/crouching.
  • Less than 1/3 of the time: Sitting.
  • No time: Tasting or smelling.
  • Primary work involves medium work: Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • No special vision requirements.
  • Work environment involves loud noise (e.g., normal manufacturing conditions, forklift and maintenance departments).
  • More than 2/3 of the time: Work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Less than 1/3 of the time: Wet or humid conditions (non-weather), vibration.
  • No exposure to: Fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold/heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, work with explosives, risk of radiation, work in high/precarious places, work/job-related travel.
