Machine Set Up Operators wanted!

Sign-on bonus: Earn up to $5,000.00 for joining our Adjuster team! Starting pay: $24.00/hr with guaranteed merit reviews every 90 days. Training is completed on 1st shift and typically takes 6 months to 1 year before transitioning to 2nd or 3rd shift.

About the role

Join our production team at our Butler, WI facility as an Order Setup Operator (Adjuster). This role ensures efficient and smooth operations by setting up and configuring machinery for production runs, operating all machines in the department, setting up work orders to specifications, troubleshooting, and performing daily maintenance and minor repairs on envelope folding machines.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily machine maintenance, changeovers, and set-ups.
• Inspect products and make necessary mechanical adjustments to eliminate quality variations and address mechanical malfunctions.
• Troubleshoot minor operating difficulties using hand tools.
• Execute minor machine repairs.
• Operate all machines within the Folding Department.
• Examine work orders to determine production specifications.
• Inspect product quality following established guidelines.
• Verify order accuracy throughout production, including labeling, printing, and packaging.
• Perform machine wash-up and other general cleaning duties to maintain a tidy workspace.
• Accurately complete paperwork for labor, time, and quality tracking.
• Maintain precise counts of envelopes for boxing, cartonizing, and palletizing.
• Neatly and uniformly pack envelopes into containers, keeping pace with machine speeds.
• Place die-cut paper stacks into machine feeds and splice paper rolls into web machine feeds.

Requirements

• Demonstrated expertise as a Set-Up Operator, Envelope Adjuster, or Auto Mechanic.
• Industry experience on RA and/or WD machines in a similar role within the envelope industry preferred but not required.
• 5 years of machine set-up and/or repair experience preferred.
• Proven ability to set up orders on production manufacturing equipment.
• Capacity to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak effectively with employees of the organization.
• Aptitude to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting ruler measurements.
• Ability to walk and stand frequently during an eight-hour shift.
• Ability to move up to 50 lbs.
• Willing to train for an extended period on First Shift before moving to home shift of 2nd or 3rd shift.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• Stamina & Mobility: Ability to stand and walk on concrete surfaces for the duration of a scheduled shift (8-12 hours). Must be able to frequently bend, reach, crouch, or stoop.
• Weight Requirements: Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally from floor to waist and waist to shoulder.
• Manual Dexterity: Constant repetitive grasping and fine motor manipulation of paper materials and machine components.
• Range of Motion: Frequent twisting of the torso and lifting above shoulder height.
• Sensory/Vision: Must possess tactile/touch sensitivity in hands and digits. Near and far visual acuity, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required for quality control and safe machine operation.
• Work Environment: Ability to perform these functions in a manufacturing environment that may include high noise levels, varying temperatures, and paper dust.

Schedule

• 2nd shift: 2:30 pm - 10:30 pm, Mon-Fri (+$0.75/hr shift premium)
• 3rd shift: 10:30 pm - 6:30 am, Sun-Thur (+$1.00/hr shift premium)
