Machine Setup Operator

Primary Job Duties

• Maintain acceptable setup standards (i.e. time and quality)
• Provide cycle time and job layout corrections
• Run production to productivity and quality standards
• Transfers and/or downloads programs to CNC machine control
• Follow layout to properly arrange and set cutting tools to be used
• Install work holding devices, part ejectors and other necessary accessories as specified
• Instructs operators or other workers in machine setup and operation
• Set up machines for other workers
• Complete daily maintenance and 5S standards
• Communicate work status
• Follow policies and procedures, Vision, Values, Principles, and Philosophies
• Maintain acceptable attendance
• Complete any specifically assigned tasks

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

• A proven track record in operation and setup of CNC machines
• Ability to adjust tools and other machine components, adjust the position of work piece or material, set controls, and verify accuracy of machine capabilities, properties of materials, and shop practices
• Ability to use tools, equipment, and work aids, such as precision gauges and measuring instruments
• Ability to make decisions using the principles of logic, as well as knowledge and skills acquired through experience and training, in a timely manner
• Ability to gather information on job processes and report back to management with process improvements
• Shop math (i.e. add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, decimals, percentages)
• Possess advanced blueprint reading skills, including GD&T
• Technical School certificate/degree preferred

Physical Requirements

• Lifting up to 50lbs, including bending, twisting, crouching, etc
• Must be able to stand for 10 hour work shift
• Must be able to work with oils/coolants
• Must be able to work in noisy environment
