About the role

Work under the direction of the Department Supervisor or Branch Manager to perform pivotal functions in a challenging machine safety-oriented workplace. Develop automation and safety projects from concept to fruition using industry-accepted practices. Use creativity and work with the engineering team to develop concepts into plans. Work with the production team and field team to develop plans into deliverables. Develop quality control programs to ensure deliverables meet customer expectations. Organize and manage project documentation and provide quotes and scopes of work to customers. Perform on-site risk assessments and safety system validations. Work in conjunction with other machine safety personal located in other offices. Learn the machine safety business and grow the group in the Northeast.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a general understanding of SRP/CS validations, OSHA press inspections, and industrial controls
  • Interact with CAD, engineers, and lead engineers
  • Interact with customers and maintain files and quality checks
  • Familiarity with functional specifications, project reviews, construction support, and field verification
  • Understand safety hardware operation of distributed control systems and appropriate hardware and instrumentation for applications
  • Work with the project manager to develop project plans, track and manage project costs, and book travel arrangements
  • Provide technical support for field installation and after-sale support
  • Assist in the coordination of projects with engineering and production teams
  • Perform internal projects focusing on waste elimination and continuous improvement
  • Set standards and processes to streamline the design process
  • Set goals for personal development and meet with supervisor quarterly to review progress
  • Work with department supervisors and project managers for resource planning and assigning of resources
  • Pre-plan and identify methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task
  • Uphold safety as the most important goal of the company and promote open communication regarding safety concerns

Requirements

  • General understanding of automation equipment, including PLCs, operator interface systems, or instrumentation
  • Applies knowledge of AC/DC fundamentals to produce electrical circuit design in accordance with NEC and UL508A
  • Level I: Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, with six months to two years of experience in industrial automation and/or training preferred
  • Level II: Two to four years of related experience and/or training in industrial safety, or a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • Senior: Four to seven years of related experience and/or training in industrial safety, or a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, with TUV (CFSE, CMSE, FSE) certification required
  • Lead: Ten or more years of related experience and/or training in industrial safety, or a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, with TUV (CFSE, CMSE, FSE) certification required

  • Ability to program safety hardware
