Machine Safety Engineer Careers
About the role
Work under the direction of the Department Supervisor or Branch Manager to perform pivotal functions in a challenging machine safety-oriented workplace. Develop automation and safety projects from concept to fruition using industry-accepted practices. Use creativity and work with the engineering team to develop concepts into plans. Work with the production team and field team to develop plans into deliverables. Develop quality control programs to ensure deliverables meet customer expectations. Organize and manage project documentation and provide quotes and scopes of work to customers. Perform on-site risk assessments and safety system validations. Work in conjunction with other machine safety personal located in other offices. Learn the machine safety business and grow the group in the Northeast.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a general understanding of validations of SRP/CS, OSHA press inspections, and industrial controls and basic ladder logic
- Maintain files and quality checks
- Interact with CAD, engineers, and lead engineers, as well as customers
- Perform project planning, including developing project plans, tracking and managing project cost and performance, and booking travel arrangements
- Provide technical support, including phone support, programming and configuration of computer/software systems, and testing and validation of electrical assemblies and equipment
- Participate in continuous improvement, including performing internal projects and setting standards and processes to streamline the design process
- Contribute to personal growth, including setting goals for personal development and meeting with supervisor quarterly to review progress
- Support safety/hazard recognition and elimination, including pre-planning and identifying methods to eliminate hazards, upholding safety as the most important goal, and promoting open communication regarding safety concerns
Requirements
- Level I: Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, six months to two years of experience in industrial automation and/or training preferred, and a safety certificate is a plus
- Level II: Two to four years related experience and/or training in industrial safety, or Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, and a safety certificate is a plus
- Senior: Four to seven years related experience and/or training in industrial safety, or Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, and TUV (CFSE, CMSE, FSE) certification required
- Lead: Ten or more years related experience and/or training in industrial safety, or Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, and TUV (CFSE, CMSE, FSE) certification required

Physical Requirements
Office environment requiring sitting and standing, with travel to various construction sites exposing employee to outdoor elements, noise, and the need to stand and walk. Reliable transportation is required.
