About the Role
This position in the Steel Operations Department involves forming, welding, and packing steel components for basement doors, including headers, door leaves, and side pieces.
Responsibilities
- Welder:
- Move door or leaf onto table.
- Use pressure table to position clips or hold parts by hand.
- Weld parts securely, ensuring straight and correct placement.
- Move completed components to designated storage (parts weigh ~60 lbs, moved 5–9 feet).
- Machine Operator:
- Measure, cut, and shear materials for welding and assembly.
- Move materials (~50 lbs) 20 feet onto a 3-foot-high machine.
- Form, punch, cope, or saw materials as required.
- Packer:
- Hang basement door parts on paint line conveyer, keeping pace with its speed.
- Remove parts from paint booth hangers and transport to packing area.
- Align parts in wrappers, insert spacers, attach bands, and palletize finished packages (packages weigh up to 200 lbs).
- Lift parts (~60 lbs) 3 feet high to attach to conveyer and move 10 feet to packing area.
- Actively participate in "5S" procedures and Continuous Improvement efforts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
Pay
Starting rate: $20.00/hour. Quarterly Production Incentive Program available.
