Machine Operator I (Third Shift)

Location: Jefferson, TX

Pay Rate: $22.78 + $1.50 shift differential

Shift: Third Shift (11 p.m. – 7 a.m.) with some overtime

Responsibilities

• Work within a team to handle and process lumber from raw material to finished product.
• Make incremental process adjustments, monitoring and reporting the quality of manufactured products.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Perform all duties as designated by supervisor/manager.
• Support Sonoco’s quality and safety policies in all tasks.
• Assist other departments as needed.
• Lift up to 50 pounds or more and stand for at least 8 hours.
• Think on your feet and troubleshoot problems and situations.
• Read and understand manufacturing instructions.
• Effectively work with a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Be reliable, committed, and quality‑focused.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of machine operating experience in an industrial environment.
• Extensive knowledge of personal hand tools and safe use to operate, adjust, and maintain production equipment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Working knowledge of Sonoco products and their quality requirements.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb as needed.
• Working knowledge of 5S is helpful but not required.
