Machine Operator I - Doors

About the role

Dover Food Retail (DFR) is seeking a Machine Operator I for their 1st Shift at P2 - Richmond, VA. This role involves fabricating products using proper tools and machines, operating and setting up related machinery, and ensuring quality control.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate assemblies / parts for products and changes to existing products per engineering documents and established production standards.
• Set-up, and lay out work using fixtures and guides to fabricate parts and assemblies.
• Arrange parts for fabrication and staging processes.
• Review finished assemblies and parts to ensure accuracy against drawings and BOMs.
• Report fabrication issues and assist in resolutions as required.
• Diagnose process and quality issues and make improvement recommendations to department supervisor.
• Reject defective parts and material according to policy.
• Ensure safe, careful use, treatment, and maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Participate in and attend cross functional meetings as required.
• Participate in cross training program---train and be trained.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 1-2 years of production machine operator experience

Qualifications

• Basic reading/writing skills
• Basic PC skills
• Basic math skills
• Ability to read a tape measure and understand fractions and decimals
• Good communication skills
• Understanding of 6S
• Ability to read and understand all job specifications
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk and/or sit for long periods of time
• Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced and complex environment
• Team oriented individual who is flexible and adaptable to an ever-changing environment
