About the role
This role keeps our automotive value stream running by setting up, operating, and troubleshooting the machinery that brings high-quality products to life. Working within a full layup-through-trimming production cell, the Machine Operator ensures equipment runs smoothly and at capacity, stays properly maintained through periodic tests and repairs, and consistently meets quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of running the machinery across our full layup-through-trimming production cell—from staging and setup to operation, shutdown, and housekeeping.
- Keep equipment running at its best by maintaining, troubleshooting, adjusting, cleaning, and handling minor repairs.
- Champion safety by monitoring the work area for hazards and inspecting equipment for safety barriers and defects.
- Train on production equipment and machinery in a safe, productive manner.
- Operate your assigned machine and serve as a backup across various operator positions.
- Accurately complete hourly quality and production reports, logging any downtime and its cause.
- Ensure quality by inspecting finished products, catching nonconforming items, and reporting defects to the right people.
- Maintain a clean, organized production area.
- Collaborate across departments to keep safety, quality, and production information flowing throughout the facility.
- Uphold a safe, healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and regulations.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the team.
Requirements
- No high school degree is required.
- One to three years of similar or related experience.
- Experience on the following machines strongly preferred, layup, consolidator, waterjet, trim, and/or press.
- Must be able to pass drug screen and background check.
Pay
Compensation for this role is between $16.50 and $25.00 per hour depending upon relevant experience.
