Responsibilities

  • Operate various production machines within the facility in accordance with prints and specifications, including lathes, grinders, mills, brake presses, punch presses, band saws, banders, slitters, lasers, and similar equipment.
  • Produce the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances.
  • Measure finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications.
  • Maintain logs and records of units produced, including errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.
  • Inspect equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; perform basic and routine adjustments and troubleshooting.
  • Calibrate, adjust, and correct machine set-ups to ensure products meet correct specifications, thicknesses, and size.
  • Control and adjust machine settings, and feed raw materials or parts to semi-automated and automated machines.
  • Monitor machine cycles to detect jamming and ensure products conform to specifications.
  • Examine, inspect, and measure raw materials and finished products to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Read orders, blueprints, and schedules to determine setup specifications, work sequences, product dimensions, and installation procedures.
  • Manipulate controls and observe dial indicators to monitor, adjust, and regulate speeds of machine mechanisms.
  • Set distance points between rolls, parts, guides, meters, and stops according to specifications.
  • Position, align, and secure arbors, spindles, coils, mandrels, dies, and other equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Comply with departmental SOPs and ISO procedures.
  • Adhere to Safety Standards and policies.
  • Participate in and engage with Self-Managed Performance (SMP) initiatives.
  • Adhere to all Policies and Procedures.
  • Perform to measured business objectives.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent recommended.
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or vehicle to exact positions.
  • Ability to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation.
  • Thorough understanding of or ability to quickly learn production equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to see details at close range and at a distance.
  • Ability to time movements or equipment in anticipation of changes in speed and/or direction.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work on more than one task at a time.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively with fellow employees.
  • Ability to perform repetitive work.
  • Regular predictable attendance.
