Responsibilities
- Operate various production machines within the facility in accordance with prints and specifications.
- Assigned machines may include lathes, grinders, mills, brake presses, punch presses, band saws, banders, slitters, lasers, and similar equipment.
- Produce the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances.
- Measure finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications.
- Maintains logs and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.
- Inspect equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and troubleshooting.
- Calibrate, adjust and correct machine set-ups to ensure products are produced to the correct specifications, thicknesses, and size.
- Control and adjust machine settings, and feed raw materials or parts to semi-automated and automated machines.
- Monitor machine cycles to detect jamming and to ensure that products conform to specifications.
- Examine, inspect, and measure raw materials and finished products to verify conformance to specifications.
- Read orders, blueprints, and schedules to determine setup specifications, work sequences, product dimensions, and installation procedures.
- Manipulate controls and observe dial indicators in order to monitor, adjust, and regulate speeds of machine mechanisms.
- Set distance points between rolls, parts, guides, meters, and stops, according to specifications.
- Position, align, and secure arbors, spindles, coils, mandrels, dies, and other equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
- Compliance with departmental SOP’s and ISO procedures.
- Adherence to Safety Standards and policies.
- SMP (Self-Managed Performance) Participation and Engagement.
- Adherence to all Policies and Procedures.
- Measured Performance to Business Objectives.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is recommended.
- The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
- A thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to see details at close range and at a distance.
- The ability to time your movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or direction of a moving object or scene.
- The ability to follow instructions.
- The ability to work on more than one task at a time.
- The ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions.
- The ability to work with minimum supervision.
- The ability to work effectively with fellow employees.
- The ability to perform repetitive work.
