Machine Operator (CNC)- 3rd shift

About the Role

Set up and operate CNC Router in a manufacturing environment. This position requires attention to safety, quality, and efficiency while working with various tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment before beginning work to ensure it is in safe operating condition and that preventative maintenance checks have been completed.
• Perform routine maintenance as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints and work orders to meet specifications and tolerances.
• Obtain material, parts, and tools needed to complete the job.
• Set up, adjust, and operate equipment safely, efficiently, and accurately to produce required parts.
• Work to reduce scrap and improve quality.
• Check work to ensure it meets specifications and tolerances.
• Perform additional tasks such as washing, painting, and spraying in a paint booth.
• Accurately complete all required paperwork, including recording labor data.
• Comply with OSHA Standards.
• Keep the Supervisor advised of quality problems, concerns, delays, or maintenance needs.
• Maintain an orderly and safe work environment.
• Suggest methods improvements or alternate methods and materials to reduce cost and/or improve quality.
• Wear all required PPE (e.g., shoes, gloves, sleeves, safety glasses, face shields, respirators, hearing protection).
• Work in adverse climate conditions (hot, cold, dark, loud, etc.) and small spaces, kneeling or bending for extended periods.
• Demonstrate and embrace all Wabash Values and Leadership Principles in daily activities.

Requirements

• High school degree or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Basic reading, writing, and verbal skills.
• General computer skills (Excel and Word).
• Strong math skills and ability to read and use a tape measure, calipers, and gauging equipment.
• Ability to read and follow engineering drawings.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment when performing responsibilities.
• Perform work at a quality level that meets or exceeds Wabash and ISO standards.

Skills & Experience

• Climbing of over six (6) feet in height using a ladder or scaffolding.
• Bending, stooping, and climbing for approximately 30% of the shift; standing for approximately 70% of the shift.
• Exposure to loud noise, welding, paint fumes, and grinding dust.

Tools & Equipment

• Personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Hammers, wrenches, hoists, circular saws, drills, impacts, routers.

Working Conditions

The work environment includes exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. Employees may occasionally work in extreme conditions, including loud noise and high temperatures. All production floor employees must wear the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).

Physical Demands

• Requires a minimum of 10 hours standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling with a full range of motion.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work in an environment requiring the use of a ladder or stairs.
