Machine Operator - Bedding

As a Machine Operator on the 2nd shift at our Fogelsville, PA manufacturing plant, you will safely operate specific equipment to ensure materials comply with customer specifications. You will collaborate with Quality Control, the Department Manager, and other team members to meet production goals and maintain operational excellence in a standard manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature changes.

Responsibilities

• Perform cutting operations according to programs and customer specifications.
• Conduct quality checks on materials to ensure product meets customer specifications.
• Unload finished cut foam material and transport to the next production area.
• Place excess trim material in baler.
• Maintain communication with line personnel to minimize downtime.
• Record pertinent information about programs.
• Operate baler—bale and secure trim material from baler.
• Cross-train to operate other cutting equipment as needed.
• Perform other duties as deemed necessary by supervision.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Prior experience as a machine operator.
• Forklift operator certification preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge and ability to use computerized equipment in daily operations.
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
• Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work with little or no supervision.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and holidays.

Specific on-the-job training is provided. Carpenter Co. conducts pre-employment drug testing for all applicants who receive and accept a written offer of employment.
