Machine Operator

The Packaging Machine Operator is primarily responsible for operating an automated packing machine to prepare food products for shipping. Ensures machinery is set up, works properly, and can produce materials that conform with company quality, quantity, and efficiency standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate, set up, or troubleshoot Hayssen (or similar) Vertical Form-Fill-Seal (VFFS) packaging equipment.
• Work with film feed and tracking, registration/print mark sensing, forming sets, sealing jaw alignment, and bag length control.
• Change over packaging formats (bag size, rollstock/film, forming tube/shoulder, code/date printer settings) and verify first-article quality.
• Diagnose and respond to common faults (film break, seal defects, product bridging, inconsistent weights, miss registration) and escalate as needed.
• Use HMI/touchscreen controls to start/stop equipment, adjust parameters within authorized limits, and document downtime/events.
• Perform routine adjustments using hand tools (guarding, guides, sensors, belts) safely and in accordance with safety policy.
• Work overtime and/or flexible schedules as production needs require.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years of packing machine operator experience preferred.
• 2+ years experience operating, setting up, or troubleshooting Hayssen (or similar) Vertical Form-Fill-Seal (VFFS) packaging equipment preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Sufficient written communication and reading skills to read and prepare logs.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to operate or quickly learn packing equipment.
• Good time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail.

Pay

$21.00 - $23.50 / hour
