About the Role
The Machine Operator position is responsible for setting up and operating equipment within the machine shop, adhering to all safety, quality, inventory, and production guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate various machines (CNC, Brake Press, Saw, etc.).
- Use measuring equipment such as dial calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
- Read blueprints or job orders to determine product specifications and tooling instructions and to plan operational sequences.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workplace.
- Ensure proper placement of tools at the end of each shift.
- Responsibilities may change or be added to support the needs of the department.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two years of continuous, related work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Minimum 1-year setup and operation of Mitsubishi and/or Bystronic lasers is required.
Skills
- Ability to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, as well as understand fractions and decimals).
- Ability to read and understand both written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to read basic prints/schematics.
- Ability to read and use tape measures.
- Proficiency in shop mathematics and layout techniques is preferred.
