About the Role
McWhirter Steel operates a Hyd-Mech Band saw, a CNC Ficep drill-line, and an OCEAN Coping Machine. The company is transitioning to a full Peddinghaus Beam Line, including a Peddiwriter, Drill-Saw combo, and a CNC coping machine. This position offers significant growth opportunities, including the potential to become a beam line lead in the coming years.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC machines
- Perform maintenance on all machines
- Follow operating and maintenance procedures
- Learn how to program machines in some instances
- Help troubleshoot machines and minimize downtime
Requirements
- Prior experience with CNC equipment operation
- Knowledge of performing maintenance on CNC machines
- General understanding of the mechanics of CNC equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to learn quickly
- Basic to intermediate computer skills
- Knowledge of steel’s different shapes, sizes, and grades
