Machine Operator

About the role

The Machine Operator is responsible for understanding and following all assigned tasks and abiding by all safety requirements for various machines including Palletizer, Depositor, Oven Operator, Schubert, Icing, Arpac, Metal Detector, Tray/Box Former, and Label Operator.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned equipment as per training and maintain cleanliness and material requirements.
• Work within a group to meet/exceed production standards.
• Make minor adjustments to maintain operational efficiency.
• Load and replenish equipment with appropriate material efficiently and safely.
• Determine and report equipment malfunctions to appropriate parties.
• Monitor for and detect defective materials.
• Document accurate information on production and packaging forms.
• Ensure proper setup and shut off machinery before handling jams.
• Use lockout/tagout procedures for cleaning and adjusting equipment.
• Complete company required paperwork for quality checks and record keeping.
• Clean up responsibilities during downtimes, including floor cleaning and waste disposal.
• Troubleshoot process/packaging problems and collaborate with other departments for resolution.
• Communicate issues and improvements to production management and other departments.
• Advise on opportunities to improve the production line and participate in quality improvement programs.
• Take on additional responsibilities and demonstrate problem-solving skills.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 1 year work experience required.
• Equipment operator experience preferred.
• Great attention to detail for detecting product or production issues.
• Ability to understand and communicate verbally and in writing in English.
• Visual inspection ability for product and materials.
• Understanding or willingness to learn about food manufacturing and GMPs.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
