About the role
This Machine Operator position in Franklin, WI will be a key stakeholder for a new 340,000 square foot conversion facility and will play an integral part of Saputo’s strategy to optimize its cheese network in North America. The role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining machines across multiple departments to ensure high-quality production, smooth operations, and proper maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Ensure quality and productivity of the line while maintaining efficient operation of equipment.
- Perform adjustments, minor repairs, and changeovers of equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Maintain neat, accurate, and legible records and documentation.
- Operate metal detectors as needed, including completing required paperwork.
- Perform quality control, follow reporting and recordkeeping procedures, and report problems to a supervisor.
- Monitor and oversee the overall quality of the finished product by maintaining equipment and facility in a sanitary condition.
- Perform quality checks to ensure product is packaged according to customer specifications (price, date, label, packaging).
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures, including GMP, SOP, HACCP, SSOP, and H&S.
- Keep work area neat, clean, and organized at all times.
- Minimize waste and make productive use of downtime.
- Attend mandatory safety and departmental meetings.
- Sanitize lines when needed.
- Enter data on production reports.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices, policies, and procedures outlined in the Safe Quality Food Program.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to consistently push, pull, and lift between 20 and 100 pounds.
- Working knowledge of production and plant processes.
- Ability to work scheduled hours and required overtime as needed.
- Reliability, honesty, respect, attention to detail, and punctuality.
- Basic analytical and numerical skills, including performing simple mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement.
- Effective communication skills.
- Working knowledge of safety methods and procedures.
- Self-motivated, able to multi-task, work independently, and as part of a team.
- Commitment to food safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Ability to read and comprehend production worksheets.
- Professionalism and positive representation of Saputo at all times.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humid), standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, and maneuvering around equipment throughout the shift.
- Frequent physical lifting of up to 40 pounds unassisted.
- Working with chemicals, wearing personal protective equipment, and following approved chemical handling procedures.
