Responsibilities
- Monitor box quality, including loose liner, warp, correct size, and print
- Check anilox rolls for damage
- Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at available capacity and speed
- Train and assist First and Second Helpers with job duties on the machine
- Cross-train on other machines
- Complete necessary reports accurately and timely (Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data)
- Submit maintenance work orders for needed repairs
- Proactively maintain equipment
- Switch duties with First Helper as necessary
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and housekeeping
- Adhere to production schedule and make recommendations for optimization
- Report unusual scheduling issues to Supervisor
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Corrugated Box operator experience
- Prior work experience in the corrugated industry (preferred)
- 6 months’ experience as a Press Department First Helper (preferred)
- 6 months’ experience in the Press and Finishing Department (preferred)
Skills
- Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters
- Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy
- Able to calculate figures such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate
- Able to apply concepts of high school math
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or graphic instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, or hear
- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally required to sit
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
