Machine Operator - 2nd Shift

Responsibilities

• Monitor box quality, including loose liner, warp, correct size, and print
• Check anilox rolls for damage
• Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at available capacity and speed
• Train and assist First and Second Helpers with job duties on the machine
• Cross-train on other machines
• Complete necessary reports accurately and timely (Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data)
• Submit maintenance work orders for needed repairs
• Proactively maintain equipment
• Switch duties with First Helper as necessary
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and housekeeping
• Adhere to production schedule and make recommendations for optimization
• Report unusual scheduling issues to Supervisor
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Corrugated Box operator experience
• Prior work experience in the corrugated industry (preferred)
• 6 months’ experience as a Press Department First Helper (preferred)
• 6 months’ experience in the Press and Finishing Department (preferred)

Skills

• Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters
• Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy
• Able to calculate figures such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate
• Able to apply concepts of high school math
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or graphic instructions
• Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, or hear
• Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Occasionally required to sit
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
• Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
