Machine Operator - 2/2/3 Nights
SUMMARY
Under the direction of and reporting to the Production Supervisor, this position is responsible for producing a quality product that meets customer specifications in a safe and effective manner. Duties include setting up and operating machines, adding film, completing changeovers, and maximizing output.
Responsibilities
- Perform all necessary preparations for daily operations based on production orders and schedules.
- Set-up, operate machines, add film, and complete changeovers to maximize output while maintaining correct weights, temperatures, dates, scale integrity, to attain safe and quality finished product.
- Verify that adequate supplies are available to meet line production needs.
- Notify appropriate personnel about any materials that are inadequate or cannot be located.
- Work on production line to assist in solving operational problems, set-ups, adjust machinery and equipment, change film, check quality at work stations of line, assist with changeovers and maintain a safe work environment.
- Communicate with employees assigned to the line and help resolve production problems and interruptions.
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions and packaging problems, effect corrective measures to meet volume and quality standards.
- Maintain all production and record systems incidental to operation department.
- Distribute reports for each production run as specified.
- Maintain effective communication with Process tech, line employees, Maintenance, and Supervisor to facilitate the effective operation of the equipment and line.
- Set-up and verify correct package, code date and labels.
- Test, monitor, and record metal detection checks where applicable.
- Monitor and record out-of-spec boxes, film, on-hold or non-conformance forms.
- Monitor temperatures for heat seals adjust when necessary.
- Monitor weights periodically through use of SPC or MES.
- Monitor oxygen checks/gas flush where applicable and adjust when necessary.
- Monitor accuracy of case counts.
- Scans materials and finished product into computer system per work instructions as applicable.
Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. No specific experience is required, but a strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions are essential.
