Machine Operator 1 Day Shift

About the role

Cornerstone Building Brands is a leading manufacturer of exterior building products. This position is permanent and full-time, with a shift from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate heavy machinery and related gauges to perform cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations.
• Understand and follow safety rules and precautions necessary for working in a manufacturing environment.
• Operate various CNC-controlled machines such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools.
• Marks part numbers, order numbers, and the number of pieces on parts and attaches identification tags.
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select the correct raw material or semi-finished parts.
• Maintain continuous improvement practices in work area.
• Provide cost-saving suggestions and ideas to improve productivity and eliminate waste.
• Utilize scanning equipment.
• Inspect work visually for defects according to Quality Systems.
• Read a tape measure, write, and follow posted schedules.
• Team player and keep safety first.
• May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader.
• Willing/able to work overtime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• A minimum of one year of related work experience in manufacturing or comparable work environment
• A minimum of one year operating manufacturing machinery and/or equipment
• Good Communication Skills
• Basic Computer Skills
• Experience with hand tools, wrenches, banding equipment and nail guns
• Able to use of measuring gauges
• Able to read a tape measure
• Forklift experience a plus / Must be trainable on forklift
• Crane experience a plus / Must be trainable on crane
• Flexible with working overtime and weekends when needed
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist

This is a position with the potential of overtime. The shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours long depending on work orders for the day and season of the year.
