MACHINE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
About the role
This position requires safe work habits and performance, advocacy for safe work conditions, ability to perform risk analysis and determine safe methods for all conditions encountered. Tasks performed by the Controls Technician on CNC Machinery can often be physically demanding. In order to install and repair equipment, they may need to kneel, crawl, climb, and stand for extended periods of time. They must also be able to operate tools in close proximity to electrical components.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret machine prints and schematics for electrical, controls and instrumentation, and fluid power systems
- Demonstrate knowledge and practices for proper task planning from establishment of job scope to determination of materials/part needs and proper sequence for execution of the task
- Familiarity with CNC Mills, Grinders, and Lathes
- Knowledge and experience with CNC control systems, variable frequency drives, PLC’s, and relay control systems. Controls manufacturers such as Siemens, Fanuc, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, and ABB.
- Capable of troubleshooting complex machines and process problems following a logical approach to identify and determine corrective actions, including root cause analysis of failures.
- Assist in mechanical repairs and replacements involving ball screws, spindles, main spindle bearings, axis scales, and conveyors; as well as machine leveling and alignments.
Requirements
- 3-5 years’ relevant experience required.
- CNC machine maintenance experience preferred.
