Serves as a technical resource for complex breakdowns across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic, and automation/control systems; drives preventative/predictive maintenance effectiveness and reliability improvements.
Essential Functions
- Lead execution and continuous improvement of preventative maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs; optimize PMs using failure history, OEM guidance, and reliability best practices
- Resolve complex equipment failures by troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation/control issues; support line recovery and verify safe start-up
- Facilitate breakdown investigations and root cause analysis (RCA) using structured methods (5-Why/Fishbone); implement and verify corrective/preventive actions to eliminate repeat failures
- Set and enforce high standards for safety, quality, and workmanship; validate repairs through functional testing, documentation, and production handoff
- Lead by example on safety compliance participate in audits, JSAs, and incident/near-miss follow-up
- Own CMMS work quality: create/close work orders with clear problem/cause/correction, record labor/parts, capture downtime codes, and provide feedback to improve planning, PM compliance, and reliability metrics
- Partner with Operations and Engineering to drive Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and continuous improvement; lead/participate in downtime reduction, defect elimination, and changeover optimization efforts
- Support and/or lead equipment upgrades, line expansions, and reliability projects; coordinate with vendors/contractors as needed and assist with installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing
- Operate with minimal supervision; prioritize and coordinate work based on safety, production impact, and risk, escalating appropriately and ensuring timely communication
- Develop and improve standard work, troubleshooting guides, and shift handoff practices; ensure accurate documentation to support consistent execution across shifts
- Support spare parts strategy by identifying critical spares, improving parts identification/BOMs, and partnering with stores/purchasing to reduce extended downtime risk
- Mentor and coach maintenance team members; share best practices, support skills training, and serve as a go-to technical resource for complex issues
Top Skills (manufacturing Maintenance)
- Electrical troubleshooting (AC/DC), motors, sensors, relays, contactors, and control panels
- PLC/VFD/HMI diagnostics and recovery (I/O verification, safe force/override practices per policy, parameters, fault trending, and basic networking awareness)
- Pneumatics and hydraulics troubleshooting (valves, cylinders, pumps, regulators, leaks)
- Mechanical systems: bearings, gearboxes, couplings, belts/chains, alignment, and precision installation
- CMMS proficiency (work orders, parts history, PM compliance, downtime tracking)
- Safety leadership (LOTO ownership, risk assessments/JSAs, arc flash awareness, and reinforcing safe behaviors)

- 7 plus years of industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience, including ownership of complex troubleshooting in a high-speed production environment
- Demonstrated senior-level electromechanical troubleshooting expertise; able to lead equipment recovery and coordinate support during critical downtime events
- Hands-on experience with electrical troubleshooting (motors, drives, sensors, relays/contactors, and basic control circuits)
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns and performing precision repairs
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- CMMS experience (daily work order execution, PM compliance documentation, and parts usage tracking)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams
- Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and effective communication of findings/actions
- Working knowledge of preventative maintenance planning/scheduling and reliability practices (TPM/5S/standard work)
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment and participate in shift handoffs and cross-functional problem solving
- Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets) and ability to learn site systems and documentation standards
