About the role
We are looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer / Machine Engineer who knows CNC machining, programming, tooling, fixturing, and shop-floor troubleshooting. This is a great opportunity for someone who does not want to sit behind a desk all day and enjoys being directly involved with the machines, operators, tooling, fixtures, and process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and improve CNC programs for Mazak and Haas machines
- Work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and 3D models
- Use Fusion 360 to support CNC programming and process improvements
- Review older programs and make them faster, cleaner, and more efficient
- Help move production parts onto a newly installed CNC machine
- Support machine setups, prove-outs, and first-piece runs
- Troubleshoot issues with tolerances, chatter, tool wear, surface finish, and cycle times
- Determine what tooling, inserts, holders, and fixtures are needed for each job
- Work with tooling and fixture vendors to order what is needed
- Help design, modify, or improve fixtures and workholding
- Work closely with machinists, operators, maintenance, engineering, and leadership
- Create setup sheets, work instructions, and process documentation
- Support continuous improvement projects to reduce scrap, downtime, and wasted motion
- Help train or coach machinists when needed
Requirements
- Strong CNC programming and editing experience
- Hands-on experience with Mazak and Haas CNC machines
- Experience working with CNC mills and/or lathes
- Ability to read prints, GD&T, and 3D models
- Fusion 360 experience preferred. Mastercam, CAMWorks, or SolidWorks CAM experience may also be considered
- Strong tooling and fixturing knowledge. Ability to identify, source, order, and implement tooling and fixtures
- Comfortable troubleshooting machining issues directly on the floor
- Experience with setup, prove-out, first-piece inspection, and production support
- Pump, rotating equipment, or precision component experience is a plus
Qualifications
The right person will be able to look at a part, figure out the best way to run it, choose the tooling, determine fixture needs, write or edit the program, support the setup, and help get the job running correctly. This is not a management role, but you will be a key technical resource for the shop.
