About the role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Machine Builder to join our mechanical assembly team. This role is responsible for the layout and build of mechanical components used in automation tooling systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in machine or tool building, a strong understanding of mechanical standards, and a commitment to safety and quality. This role leads the mechanical build process on the tool and will mentor or advise builders on technical aspects of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes assembly blueprint and specifications manual, and plans machine building operations
  • Fits and assembles tools, details, and other components using engineering drawings, customer specifications, and technical manuals
  • Verifies conformance of parts to stock list blueprints, using measuring instruments, like calipers, gauges, and micrometers
  • Identify mechanical issues and recommend adjustments or repairs as needed
  • Build assembly components, using bolts, pins, clamps, screws, rivets, or other methods
  • Assembles, set up, operates machine to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to customers specifications
  • May test operation of assembly by hand
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and ensure project success
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 5+ years of machine or tool building experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and successfully layout equipment according to blueprints
  • Properly handle and safely use a variety of hand-held power tools and precision measurement instruments (builders typically supply their own tools)
  • High regard for safety standards
  • Knowledge of mechanical standards, tooling assembly & setup
  • Ability to operate forklift and crane
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Work Environment

This position operates in a manufacturing site environment. This is a safety-sensitive role, which includes working around moving equipment and machinery.

Schedule

This position is for regular, full-time work and may require coming in early, working late, or working on weekends to meet the needs of the business. Typical work hours are Monday - Friday, 6am to 2:30-4:30pm.

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and twist. Occasionally required to lift/push/pull up to 25lbs.
