Machine Assistant

About the role

Assistant Operator is responsible for assisting with and/or operating machinery to cut out parts of specified size and shape from corrugated board and properly offloading and inspecting finished material.

Responsibilities

• Operate machine to cut out parts of specified size and shape from corrugated board.
• Review and understand job ticket information to determine quantity, special instructions, and customer requirements.
• Stack off finished bundles and feed sheets into the machine.
• Prepare paperwork and bottom slip sheets for each other.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Repair or assist maintenance in the repair of machines as necessary.
• Fill in for machine operators during their absence.
• Check finished products for quality per customer specifications.
• Actively participate in Lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Demonstrate commitment to safety and perform all duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Safety-sensitive position: ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
• Ability to stand, sit, kneel and bend over for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs repeatedly if necessary.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed based on business needs.
• Ability to work on a rotating shift as needed.
• Ability to effectively work in teams.
• Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles.
• Read a tape measure/ruler.
• Perform computer functions as they pertain to the job.
