About the role
This position supports physicians and physician assistants by preparing patients for office visits, assisting with medical procedures, and performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Summon and prepare patients for office visits.
- Assist physicians or physician assistants with medical office procedures.
- Administer medications, including injections, and document medications given or prescribed by the ordering provider.
- Adhere to nursing policy and procedure when documenting in patient records.
- Attend support staff and department meetings to stay informed of employee issues, concerns, and organizational updates.
- Maintain confidentiality of clinic materials.
- Provide and reinforce patient instruction and education as indicated.
- Prepare for daily business, maintain charts, prepare new charts, and keep information current.
- Record and obtain results for cultures, lab tests, and radiology results per office protocol.
- Maintain the integrity of the office.
- Schedule x-rays, lab tests, process referrals, and admissions to the hospital.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
- Identify and evaluate patient needs through telephone triage.
- Accept responsibility for reading and referencing new policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing and hold an active Florida state license.
- CPR certification.
- ACLS and PALS required within the first 90 days of employment.
- IV certification required within 90 days of employment.
Qualifications
Preferred two years of experience in ER, critical care, urgent care, or a hospital setting.
