Summary
This position functions as a member of the clinical team and ensures smooth day-to-day operations in the SMG physician practice. The Medical Assistant I maintains a professional, positive manner when interacting with patients and all customers.Responsibilities
- Works closely with providers to deliver world-class care to patients.
- Provides high-level customer service to all patients.
- Rooms patients and prepares them for provider visits.
- Takes vital signs and records patient history, chief complaints, and prescription lists into the EMR.
- Obtains required consents and completes forms as needed.
- Performs in-office testing and EKGs, adhering to SMG policies.
- Assists providers with medical procedures and properly labels specimens.
- Chaperones providers as required.
- Administers vaccines and medications, following SMG policies.
- Follows TCM, CCM, and RPM workflows if applicable.
- Stocks and monitors exam room supplies, logs refrigeration temperatures, and assists with scheduling.
- Manages clinical buckets and informs management of supply needs.
- Obtains prior authorizations and insurance referrals as needed.
- Communicates with facilities and other practices to obtain missing information.
- Schedules patient appointments and tests, and performs outreach to patient groups.
- Adheres to SMG policies and ensures patient confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with EMR (preferred).
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Education from an approved medical assistant program or equivalent.
- One to three years of experience as a medical assistant preferred.
