M&H Valve - Foundry Clean Up

About the Role

This laborer position is responsible for clean-up duties and general labor on the production floor in a green sand foundry.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members
• Assisting supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
• Wearing appropriate PPE which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head and eye protection
• Using proper lifting and ergo techniques
• Reading work orders or receiving oral instructions to determine work assignments, material or equipment needs
• Maintaining cleanliness of the production areas
• Using a push broom, sweeping dust and debris from assigned areas and discarding into receptacle bins
• Shoveling sand onto belts and from floor to an elevated bin
• Removing buckets full of sand from the work areas
• Operating tow motor, skid steer, sweeper and related moving equipment to transport waste and product
• Notifying supervisor of errors or equipment stoppage
• Clearing equipment at end of operating run and reviewing schedule to determine next assignment

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED preferred
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be able to obtain certifications to drive motorized equipment
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to write simple correspondence
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms
• Occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to wide range of temperatures, humid conditions, moving machinery, dust, fumes, gases, odors, vibrations, and varying noise levels
