M/H Truck Diesel Technology Instructor

South Arkansas College is seeking a qualified full-time faculty instructor for the Medium/Heavy Truck Diesel Technology program within the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Division. This position reports to the Dean of Career and Technical Education.

About the role

The instructor will teach college credit courses, develop curriculum, and lead recruiting efforts for the CTE Division. Responsibilities include advising the SkillsUSA student organization and developing work-based learning and internship opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise curriculum, syllabi, course materials, and assessments
  • Deliver program curriculum to secondary and postsecondary students
  • Lead divisional recruiting efforts alongside the Dean and CTE faculty
  • Serve as the lead SkillsUSA advisor for students and faculty
  • Develop CTE work-based learning and internship programs as a template for all CTE programs
  • Maintain up-to-date student records
  • Collaborate with industry partners through the program advisory committee
  • Attend program-related professional development
  • Assist with student recruitment and participate in divisional activities
  • Collaborate with other college areas and serve on College Shared Governance committees
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Diesel Technology (or willingness to pursue one)
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent work experience as a Medium/Heavy Truck diesel service technician
  • Knowledge and skill to present program curriculum
  • Ability to operate program diesel equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with professional technology (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Ability to teach in both in-person and online modalities using the College LMS (Blackboard Ultra)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Diesel Technology (or willingness to pursue one)
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent work experience as a Medium/Heavy Truck diesel service technician
  • ASE certification in the areas to be taught
  • Teaching experience

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to operate all program equipment
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
