M&A Integration Lead (Research & Development)
About the Role
As the Information Research (IR) Mergers & Acquisition (M&A) Integration Lead, you will be a key member of the IR Integration Management Office (IMO) and join a diverse, global team driving digital transformation at AbbVie. This role represents the BTS-Information Research (IR) organization as the overall IR M&A Integration Lead, working directly with cross-functional R&D business and BTS teams to execute deal transactions that grow AbbVie’s Therapeutic Areas. You will be responsible for planning and executing deals, addressing cross-functional dependencies to achieve AbbVie’s desired end-state operating model during integrations or divestitures.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the IR M&A Integration Lead for multiple AbbVie company-wide and R&D deal transactions, ensuring overall program health, financial management, and reporting.
- Establish and lead cross-functional IR teams accountable for integrating or divesting people, data, and systems for each deal.
- Develop business relationships and integrate activities with other Business Technology Organizations (BTOs) to ensure successful execution and long-term support of projects.
- Manage relationships between BTOs, R&D Business, and Finance to facilitate effective communication and coordination.
- Broker services within BTS on behalf of customers, coordinate solutions, and identify interdependencies.
- Collaborate with R&D business and BTS functional leads to define business decisions, solution options, and recommendations based on deal model, size, complexity, risk, and speed to value.
- Partner with other BTOs to monitor project status, inform management and stakeholders of progress, and address user issues proactively.
- Escalate and drive resolution of risks and issues cross-functionally.
- Present IR updates in leadership forums and R&D Integration Forums.
- Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance speed and agility in BTS M&A services and capabilities.
- Identify and implement AI-driven innovative solutions to challenge the status quo and deliver business value faster.
- Ensure compliance with BTS’s System Lifecycle (SLC), Corporate, and Divisional policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related discipline with 7+ years of experience; Master’s Degree with 6+ years of experience; or PhD with 2+ years of experience.
- Experience leading a portfolio of business applications and large, complex cross-functional global IT implementations with strong financial management.
- Experience working on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and collaborations.
- Proficiency in leveraging generative and agentic AI to improve processes or capabilities.
- Proven track record of leading projects that drive speed, efficiencies, and/or cost savings.
- Experience with R&D business applications such as Veeva solutions, LIMS, ELN systems, clinical trial systems (e.g., CTMS), scientific data management platforms, laboratory systems, research portfolio management tools, and document management systems.
- Strong skills in Project Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Financial Management, Business Systems Applications, and delivering complex cross-functional global programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience leading a portfolio of business applications and large, complex cross-functional global IT implementations with strong financial management.
- 6+ years of experience working on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and collaborations.
