Lycored Applications Scientist

About the role

Supports the sales team as a technical expert on Lycored ingredients and their usage. Develops and tests applications that highlight the value of Lycored products in finished consumer health products.

Responsibilities

• Supports the sales team as a technical expert on Lycored ingredients and their usage.
• Develops and tests applications that highlight the value of Lycored products in finished consumer health products.
• Attends industry events and customer meetings to support the commercial team.
• Manages or contributes to one or more projects in support of Lycored ingredients in relevant applications.
• Exercises a wide degree of technical sophistication in accomplishing assigned objectives and successful delivery of actives in applicable products.
• Designs experiments and carries out scientific work with an awareness of industry SOPs.
• Creates research plans to fit overall project objectives.
• Facilitates external pilot production of applications for trade shows, shelf-life studies, and proof of concept delivery.
• Participates in trade show planning and execution.
• Works in partnership with marketing, research and development, operations, regulatory and management to design application strategies for select delivery systems of active ingredients.
• Documents application work using standard Lycored forms and procedures and shares with the Business Unit Head and Global Application Team.
• Maintains awareness of the marketplace, market products and trends to feed into application development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree, with concentration in Food Science, Nutrition or Chemical/Pharmaceutical related science.
• 5 + years of formulation and/or product development experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years of experience with a Master’s Degree.
• Experience applying scientific principles and techniques to solve customer problems to win business.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, think and work independently, problem-solve, work effectively in teams, and multitask.
• Solid regulatory understanding of supplemental nutrition & functional food products.
• Global team player with solid interpersonal communication skills.
• Comfortable with formal presentation development and delivery.
• Ability to travel globally up to 20% annually.

Qualifications

• 5 + years of formulation and/or product development experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years of experience with a Master’s Degree.
• Master's Degree in Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Nutritional or related science with 2+ years of formulation and/or product development experience.
• Experience applying scientific principles and techniques to solve customer problems to win business.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, think and work independently, problem-solve, work effectively in teams, and multitask.
• Solid regulatory understanding of supplemental nutrition & functional food products.
• Global team player with solid interpersonal communication skills.

Skills

• Clear communication in both oral and written form with both internal departments and external organizations.
• Experience and knowledge of formulation development of tablets, soft gels, and other supplement applications common in consumer health products (or for food beverages, confections, dairy products…).
• Project management, strong organizational and administrative skills.
