About the Position

Harris Health System is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to support Correctional Health Infection Prevention efforts. In this role, you will provide patient care and education in ambulatory and correctional health settings under the supervision of registered nurses and providers.

You will utilize the nursing process to address patients’ physical, social, psychological, and spiritual needs while assisting in identifying and managing predictable healthcare conditions. The LVN will play a key role in coordinating care across the healthcare team, ensuring patients understand their conditions and treatment plans within scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Education:

    • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
  • Licensure/Certification:

    • Current Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the State of Texas
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) from an AHA-approved program
    • Additional certifications as required by the unit
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 1 year LVN experience required
    • Experience in specialty area preferred
  • Communication Skills:

    • Above Average Verbal (heavy public contact)
  • Technical Skills:

    • Basic computer proficiency
  • Knowledge/Skills:

    • Analytical skills
    • Medical terminology
    • PC proficiency
  • Equipment Knowledge:

    • Experience with IV pumps, vital signs monitors, and other clinical equipment
  • Work Schedule:

    • Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call
