Lunch/Recess Monitors

About the Role

Lunch/Recess Monitor positions are available at Ringwood School Primary Center and Johnsburg Elementary School. This role involves supervising students during lunch and recess periods to ensure their safety and well-being.

Reports to: Building Principal

Schedule

• School days when children are present (172 days per year)
• Hours vary by location, between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Pay

$15.00 per hour

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Desire to work with students and interest in their safety and well-being
• Ability to respond to emergency situations calmly, quickly, and compassionately
• Ability to make judgments and implement discipline procedures for children
• Respect for confidentiality
• Strong interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy
• Must complete a background check, physical, and TB test

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during lunch periods in serving lines, while eating, and during lunchroom dismissal
• Supervise students at recess and on playground equipment as needed
• Assist students with securing trays, opening food containers, seating, and dismissal
• Clean tables and perform other duties as requested or assigned
• Circulate among tables to provide assistance or resolve minor issues
• Maintain discipline in the lunchroom according to school and district policies
• Notify custodians of large spills and assist in keeping table tops clean
• Work cooperatively with food service staff
• Maintain continuous mental and visual attention in areas with many children present
• Complete tasks or responsibilities as directed by the Building Principal
• Adhere to district expectations regarding attendance and punctuality
