Lunch/Recess Monitor

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is recommended.
• Ability to communicate and deal with students, staff, and the public in a congenial and positive manner.
• Demonstrated aptitude and competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Acceptable standards of emotional stability, moral character, sound health, and physical ability to perform necessary job responsibilities.
• Pleasant and dignified manner, neat appearance, and ability to adjust to change.
• Alternate qualifications may be considered as deemed appropriate and acceptable by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Assist in establishing and maintaining a calm and pleasant atmosphere in the cafeteria or lunchroom area to provide students a relaxing mealtime.
• Organize students into orderly lines for purchasing food and direct them to assigned tables.
• Help students develop and observe proper dining habits, including etiquette and nutrition.
• Assist younger students with the use of utensils when needed.
• Organize students for orderly disposal of food waste, trays, and utensils.
• Organize groups for orderly dismissal from the lunchroom.
• Circulate among the tables during the meal period to assist children and resolve minor problems.
• Immediately inform the Counselor of any serious disciplinary infractions by students.
• Call for the Counselor in cases of arguments involving more than two students, physical confrontations, or incidents causing significant disruption.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Counselor and Building Principal.
