About the role
This job is essential to the operation of the optimization processes at the yard. This position assists the Lead Sawyer with all phases of putting together an optimized (cut) package and reports directly to the Lumber Lead Sawyer and General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate all equipment – always pay proper attention and behave in the safest possible manner
- Maintain yard and area cleanliness during course of work
- Perform daily safety audit of saws and other equipment and promptly report any malfunctioning equipment to Lead Sawyer
- Utilize proper shutdown and maintenance procedures
- Always utilize all proper Personal Protective Equipment (shoes, gloves, glasses, hearing protection, no loose clothes/hair/jewelry, etc.)
- Enforce Lock Out Tag Out program
- Load the saw with lumber both by hand and with a forklift
- Cut lumber to specific dimensions
- Maintain equipment (remove and install blades as needed)
- Sort material onto sorting table
- Execute quality control for layouts and proper printing on components
- Sort, stack, and prepare packs by wall number, in effective fashion
- Safely prepare optimization loads for delivery
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to speak, write, and read English required
- OSHA Certified Forklift License preferred
- Knowledge of receiving/inventory control principles, practices, and protocols
- Knowledge of dimension lumber, species of material, panel products and other building materials
- Ability to read and interpret "picking tickets" and invoices
- Shoes that are puncture resistant, slip resistant, and made of leather or composite material required

Working Conditions
This position works outside in the lumberyard in all weather conditions. The working days are rotating Mon-Sat.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 80 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Pay
$22.07 - $26.78

Rotating Mon-Sat; most locations are not open past 5 and all locations are closed on Sundays.
