Lubrication Technician

About the Role

In this position, you will be expected to be self-motivated to complete assignments in a safe and timely manner. Daily tasks include greasing equipment such as mobile equipment, rolling mill components, overhead cranes, flattening press, planer mill, and burning machines. You will also maintain proper oil levels, change filters, and take oil samples. The role requires working in confined spaces, operating a manlift, and wearing proper fall protection.

Responsibilities

• Be familiar with all safety rules, including Lockout/Tagout procedures and proper use of PPE.
• Complete all paperwork and data entry, including work orders and PM schedules.
• Perform proper lubrication of overhead cranes and maintain lubrication schedules for all plant equipment.
• Install, thread, and size pipes and fittings.
• Replace and change filters on various types of equipment.
• Perform welding and fabrication tasks (recommended).
• Troubleshoot operating errors and determine corrective actions.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance, identifying when maintenance is needed.
• Operate machine controls and use power and hand tools.
• Operate fork trucks, skid steer, and manlift.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Apply basic shop math skills.
• Select appropriate tools and equipment for each job.
• Solve complex problems by reviewing related information and implementing solutions.
• Read and comprehend work-related documents.
• Work at high elevations and in confined spaces.
• Provide your own basic hand tools.
• Assist millwrights and electricians as needed.
• Input data into computer systems and verify paperwork for PM schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• 1-2 years of related experience preferred.
• Mechanical background.

Physical Demands

• Standing for long periods of time.

Work Environment

• Rolling mill, overhead cranes, and shop environment.
• Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.

Schedule

• Any shift – operations run 24/7.
• Overtime and holiday work may be required.
