LTFC Clinician Bilingual required

The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie has been caring for children throughout the Hudson Valley for over 175 years. We strive to empower children and families to achieve optimal health and well being. We are currently seeking a Clinician to work in our UC LTFC Program.

About the role

The Clinician shall conduct mental health assessments for all UC in care, as well as provide ongoing individual therapy and crisis intervention. The Clinician provides direct counseling services to the child as required/needed and is responsible for collaborating with program Case Managers for all plan development and reporting to ORR/Case Coordinators.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with Case Managers to support reunification of UC with family members or sponsors, including constant and open communication regarding family/sponsor relationships and mental health status in accordance with ORR policy.
• Demonstrate sensitivity and support for the children's cultural and ethnic heritage and values.
• Assess case complexity and provide clinical insights on referrals and post-release services.
• Develop case mitigations and post-release care plans.
• Plan and participate in conferences and staffing meetings with the Lead Clinician, Case Managers, and ORR to discuss service plans, progress, and other issues concerning youth.
• Provide ongoing mental health assessments per UC documentation regulations, as well as developmentally and culturally sensitive, trauma-informed therapy services; lead regular psycho-educational groups with placed UC.
• Assist in the coordination of discharge or transfer of each child in collaboration with program staff, ensuring delivery of appropriate summaries in each case.
• Maintain UC Portal documentation, including preparation of summaries, progress notes, and incorporation of significant incidents into case records.
• Ensure both paper and electronic case records are stored and protected in compliance with CHP and ORR procedures.
• Maintain individual therapeutic relationships with each UC.
• Pursue continued professional development through in-service seminars, conferences, workshops, or higher education.
• Stay current with Children's Home, OCFS, and ORR policies to ensure program compliance.
• Fulfill on-call responsibilities for the UC program, including calls from ORR.
• Accept additional tasks as delegated by the Program Director or required by ORR.

Requirements

• MSW or a Master's degree in psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science with clinical experience as a program requirement.
• 2 years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience.
• Licensed or license-eligible as a clinician.
• Proficient in the Spanish language.

Preferred Qualifications

• Related clinical experience.
• Availability to travel within the U.S. for reunifications in exigent circumstances (e.g., separated or extremely traumatized tender-aged children).

Schedule

• Monday & Wednesday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Rotating on-call responsibilities
• Saturday & Sunday: Off
