About the Role

The Costa Mesa Children's program Pre-Licensed Therapist provides mental health treatment services designed to maximize client independence and family empowerment. This role delivers individual, group, and family counseling services to support clients in achieving personal, social, educational, and vocational goals. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the Pre-Licensed Therapist provides culturally responsive, community-based care while supporting positive clinical outcomes and overall well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults
  • Conduct clinical assessments and therapeutic interviews to identify client needs and treatment goals
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and interventions
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and case consultations
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Provide consultation and educational presentations to community organizations, schools, hospitals, and service agencies as needed
  • Facilitate psychoeducational groups on topics such as parenting, anger management, life skills, and wellness
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, ethical standards, and professional boundaries
  • Meet assigned productivity expectations as established by the program
  • Transport clients when necessary using a personal vehicle
  • Work one to two afternoons per week with availability until 7:00 PM
  • Participate in assigned on-call rotation and after-hours responsibilities as required by the program
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution
  • Registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC), or Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW)
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges in inpatient, outpatient, community-based, or related settings
  • Direct clinical and case management experience
  • Strong assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Intermediate computer proficiency and ability to utilize electronic health record systems
  • Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and active automobile insurance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, youth, and families
  • Bilingual skills preferred
  • Experience providing services in community-based, school-based, or outpatient settings
  • Familiarity with crisis intervention and care coordination practices
  • Experience facilitating groups and psychoeducational programming
