LRT Supervisor Facility Systems - Riverline
Roles and Responsibilities
Direct and oversee the operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of facility infrastructure and central control systems supporting NJ TRANSIT River Line operations.
Supervise assigned technical staff, including scheduling, work assignments, performance monitoring, training, and enforcement of NJ TRANSIT safety policies and operating procedures.
Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance programs for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, CCTV, access control, SCADA, PLC, HMI, and communication systems to ensure reliability and minimize service disruptions.
Provide technical leadership for SCADA, PLC, and HMI programming, configuration, troubleshooting, and system integration.
Maintain automated control systems for Control Huts (CPs), facilities, and the NJ TRANSIT railroad control center.
Program, upload, archive, and document PLC, HMI, and SCADA code in accordance with NJ TRANSIT configuration management standards.
Develop SCADA point lists and RTU programs to ensure accurate system reporting and control.
Review technical specifications, drawings, and design documents; support system upgrades, capital projects, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and commissioning activities.
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, switches, protocol converters, firewalls, modems, and related communication hardware.
Support industrial communication protocols including Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3.0, Ethernet/IP, RS-485, RS-232, CAN, and ARINC.
Monitor system performance, identify deficiencies, implement corrective actions, and recommend improvements to enhance operational reliability.
Respond to central control communication failures and system outages; provide on-site troubleshooting and participate in on-call and emergency response activities to ensure timely restoration of service.
Cook with internal departments, contractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with NJ TRANSIT safety standards, regulatory requirements, and project timelines.
Maintain documentation, reports, and maintenance records using Microsoft Office and CAD tools.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field from a U.S. Department of Education accredited college or university, and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in building operations, maintenance, construction, industrial controls, facility systems, or a related field.
One (1) year of closely related experience may be substituted for each year of education required.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong knowledge of facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related infrastructure.
Experience with SCADA, PLC, and HMI systems.
Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and networking hardware.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and CAD software for documentation and reporting.
Knowledge of basic budget planning and project coordination processes.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Other Conditions
Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
