LRS Hazmart Lead

About the Role

The LRS HAZMART Lead at Goodfellow AFB, TX, is responsible for ensuring all hazardous materials (HM) used on the installation are properly authorized, tracked, and stored in compliance with regulations. This role oversees warehouse operations, including chemical segregation, shelf-life monitoring, and the creation of Monthly and Quarterly Status Reports.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all HM is properly tracked in the Enterprise Environmental, Safety & Occupational Health-Management Information System (EESOH-MIS) with accurate data entry and appropriate material control barcodes/labels.
• Direct activities related to the receipt and issue of HM from the LRS Supply warehouse, procurement resources, and excess serviceable material for the Free Issue program.
• Provide EESOH-MIS functions for LRS HAZMART support and ensure expeditious issuing of HM based on customer requests, validating authorizations beforehand.
• Maintain compliance with USAF, federal, state, and local hazardous material and hazardous waste regulations, as well as logistics requirements.
• Accurately locate and segregate incompatible materials, manage warehouse inventories, and conduct hazardous material assessments.
• Receive and dispose of empty HM containers, close out tracking labels, and maintain a clean and neat warehouse.
• Manage and monitor the shelf-life of HM, extend shelf-life as required, and ensure proper disposal of expired or unserviceable materials.
• Conduct hazardous material shop assessments, assist in obtaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS), and support customers with the hazmat authorization process.
• Promote pollution prevention initiatives and create Monthly and Quarterly Status Reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Logistics, Environmental Sciences, OR
• Minimum two (2) years of related hazardous material work experience.
• Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience managing multiple employees.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience successfully managing operations for the federal government.
• Knowledge of hazardous material storage requirements and Hazardous Material, Hazardous Waste, and Pollution Prevention programs.
• Understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ability to maintain a clean, safe, and neat work environment.
• Ability to accomplish all tasks associated with contract operations and obtain a forklift license.
• Total Customer Service attitude and preferred Air Force logistics experience.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear, with occasional walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Repeated motions involving arms, wrists, hands, and fingers are common. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and have close vision.
