General Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse under the supervision of the Director of Nursing of the Transitional Care Unit administers direct nursing care to patients and performs a variety of indirect patient care duties. They are responsible for all professional working policies pertaining to this section.
Education
Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse Program required.
Work Experience
Minimum 2 years experience in a long term care setting preferred.
Special Employment Requirements
- Possession of a current license as a Practical Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners required.
- Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the Nursing Department and Allied Services.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide individualized care appropriate to the age-specific needs and culture of the patient served.
Physical Demands
- Medium Work: duties require exerting 25 to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 lbs. of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible amount up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects.
- Works in a well-lit nursing unit, which includes: nurses station, patient’s rooms, treatment areas, etc.
Accident or Health Hazards
- Occasional exposure to blood and body substances.
- Exposure to needle sticks possible.
