Responsibilities
- Reviews schedules and organizes patient flow; greets patients, documents patient's concerns and questions
- Accompanies patient to exam/procedure room and prepares patients for physical exam
- Conducts initial patient interview; reviews patient medical profile and documents all required charting in EMR/manual charting as appropriate
- Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs and weight; reports any abnormalities to physician
- Assists with specimen collection and testing as necessary; documents pertinent information
- Assists patients as necessary (e.g., walking, transferring, dressing)
- Provides minor treatment as directed by physician and assists with minor procedures
- Provides education after evaluating the learning needs of the patient and/or family
- Schedules patient testing and pre-certifies if insurance requires
- Responds to telephone messages (patient, physician offices, etc.)
- Checks for expired supplies and medication at the end of each month
- Stocks rooms and maintains inventory of exam/procedure rooms; orders supplies as needed
- Cleans exam/procedure room and equipment after each patient; prepares room for next patient and physician needs
- Notifies patients of test results (per physician instruction) and follow-up
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in CT
- BLS certification
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar position preferred
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language
