Responsibilities

• Reviews schedules and organizes patient flow; greets patients, documents patient's concerns and questions
• Accompanies patient to exam/procedure room and prepares patients for physical exam
• Conducts initial patient interview; reviews patient medical profile and documents all required charting in EMR/manual charting as appropriate
• Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs and weight; reports any abnormalities to physician
• Assists with specimen collection and testing as necessary; documents pertinent information
• Assists patients as necessary (e.g., walking, transferring, dressing)
• Provides minor treatment as directed by physician and assists with minor procedures
• Provides education after evaluating the learning needs of the patient and/or family
• Schedules patient testing and pre-certifies if insurance requires
• Responds to telephone messages (patient, physician offices, etc.)
• Checks for expired supplies and medication at the end of each month
• Stocks rooms and maintains inventory of exam/procedure rooms; orders supplies as needed
• Cleans exam/procedure room and equipment after each patient; prepares room for next patient and physician needs
• Notifies patients of test results (per physician instruction) and follow-up

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in CT
• BLS certification
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar position preferred
• Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language
