About the role

The role involves delivering direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The graduate nurse works with the RN to implement and evaluate a patient's care plan, and assists in patient education and discharge planning.

Responsibilities

• Delivers direct and indirect patient care in accordance with state regulations and hospital policies.
• Aids in collecting patient health data and implements a personalized care plan.
• Communicates patient conditions to the RN and reports any changes requiring reassessment.
• Provides patient education on safe medication use, pain management, and available resources.
• Maintains a collaborative relationship with healthcare providers and participates in performance improvement activities.
• Delegates tasks appropriately and ensures patient safety.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing.
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills.
• Current licensure as a Graduate Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Clearances including Act 33, Act 34, Act 73, and FBI clearance.
• Successfully completes the nursing licensing exam within six months of graduation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Skills

• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of legal aspects of nursing practice.
• Ability to assess and manage patient needs.
• Proficiency in using the electronic medical record.
• Understanding of infection control and patient safety protocols.
