About the Role

This position provides nursing care according to physician's instructions and in conformance with recognized nursing techniques and procedures, established standards, and administrative policies. The role identifies residents' care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual residents and other persons in a position to understand care requirements. It also promotes resident's independence by establishing resident care goals; teaching patients, friends, and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; and answering questions. The role resolves resident problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies. It maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, calling for assistance from health care support personnel. It documents resident care services by charting in resident records. It maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. It maintains resident's confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential. It maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; and using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. It maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies. It maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; and participating in team problem-solving methods. It contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. It recognizes and interprets resident's conditions based on signs and symptoms, lab work, medication regiment, and reports to appropriate person; has knowledge of the resident's conditions at all times. It promotes a team relationship with CNA's by recognizing their efforts, assisting with resident care as needed, and promptly and appropriately responding to reported resident concerns. It promotes and encourages autonomy. It cooperates with other departments to facilitate care of the resident and to maintain inter-departmental good will. It provides support for the decisions made by LPN, promotes and encourages growth in the LPN role. It recognizes that LPN's act as immediate supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Current, unencumbered LPN/LVN or Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Wyoming (or compact state eligibility).

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position will supervise LPN's and CNA's on the unit.
