Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Utilizes nursing process which includes patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning of nursing care, implementing interventions, and evaluation of patient status in relationship to above.
  • Executes regimen prescribed by physician within guidelines of nursing practice.
  • Performs and/or supervises activities/functions which require knowledge and skill level currently ascribed to the licensed practical nurse and seeks assistance when these are beyond scope of preparation.

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Licensure and Certifications: Current RN license in State of Iowa, Current basic Life Support for Healthcare providers from American Heart Association.
  • Dependent Adult Mandatory Reporter Training: Obtains education required for license renewal and completes 30 days upon hire and recertification every 5 years.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Works to promote a positive atmosphere in LTC.
  • Provides direct care to the residents (feeding, bathing, dressing, ambulation, stock supply room, pass water, linens etc.).
  • Communicates changes in resident’s condition to appropriate members of the health care team.
  • Follows universal precautions for infection control.
  • Correctly uses mechanical devices for moving, lifting, and transferring residents to promote safety.

About the Role

The role involves assuming responsibility and accountability for assigned patients, providing nursing services to ensure resident safety, and maintaining the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident as determined by resident assessment and implementing the plan of care.
