About the Role

Part-time evening shift position (2pm-10:30pm) at MercyOne Centerville Medical Center, a 25-bed critical-access hospital offering emergency/trauma stabilization, acute and skilled care, including cancer, heart and vascular, neurology, pediatrics, primary care, surgery, therapy, and rehab services. The hospital emphasizes personalized rural community healthcare in Centerville, a town with affordable living, parks, trails, and cultural events.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning of nursing care, implementing interventions, and evaluating patient status.
  • Execute physician-prescribed regimens within nursing practice guidelines.
  • Perform and/or supervise activities requiring knowledge and skills of a licensed practical nurse or registered nurse, seeking assistance when beyond scope of preparation.
  • Provide leadership and direction in supervising others to carry out the nursing process.
  • Promote a positive atmosphere in long-term care (LTC) and provide direct resident care (feeding, bathing, dressing, ambulation, stocking supplies, passing water/linens, etc.).
  • Communicate changes in resident conditions to the healthcare team.
  • Follow universal precautions for infection control.
  • Correctly use mechanical devices for moving, lifting, and transferring residents to ensure safety.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in the State of Iowa.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association.
  • Dependent Adult Mandatory Reporter training (completed within 30 days of hire and recertified every 5 years).
  • Education required for license renewal.
