LPN or RN Charge Nurse
Job Duties
- Maintains supervision of direct care staff (C.N.A.) in performing health-related duties.
- Educates and counsels residents as needed.
- Holds staff meetings and provides in-services as required.
- Consults with Nursing Supervisor/Unit Managers on issues as necessary.
- Performs daily rounds on high-risk residents or those with wounds, following facility policies and standards.
- Acts as Unit Manager when needed.
- May cover Assisted Living Units or Nursing Units as required.
- Observes and evaluates the physical and emotional status of all residents and takes necessary actions.
- Assesses residents for physician and specialist needs and consults with physicians as needed.
- Makes rounds with physicians when necessary.
- Maintains cleanliness of the unit and ensures equipment is stored properly.
- Completes required documentation, including incident/accident reports, charting, referrals, assessments, admissions, shift change nursing report sheets, and resident health changes.
- Monitors medications for accuracy and notifies pharmacy of any errors.
- Prepares and administers medications and treatments according to procedures.
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area and monitors supplies.
- Ensures proper safety measures are followed and assists with in-house activities as permitted.
- Informs staff about resident activities and coordinates with activity staff as needed.
- Monitors cleanliness and condition of resident items and reports needed repairs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed a Practical Nursing program and obtained certification.
