LPN or Medical Assistant - 32 Hour Flex - Brainerd Family Medicine

Building Location: Brainerd Clinic, Brainerd, Minnesota

About the Role

Essentia Health is seeking a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or certified medical assistant (CMA) to serve in the family medicine practice at our Brainerd Clinic. This position works 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with one weekday off. Hours may be flexed upward or downward without notice based on the needs of the facility. No weekend, holiday, or on-call rotations are required. A $2,500 sign-on incentive is available.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN, Physician, and other providers and provide direct patient care in the ambulatory care setting.
• Perform identified procedures for which competencies have been demonstrated.
• Care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly.
• Patient Care and Monitoring: Perform routine assessments such as measuring vital signs, recording patient histories, and observing symptoms to assist in diagnosing and monitoring patient health.
• Assisting with Procedures: Support physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and minor procedures by preparing equipment, assisting with patient positioning, and ensuring proper infection control.
• Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications, including injections and oral drugs, and monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Coordination of Care: Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans, and assist in coordinating follow-up appointments and referrals.
• Patient Intake and Preparation: Conduct initial patient intake processes, including gathering medical histories, updating personal information, and preparing patients for examination or diagnostic testing.

Requirements

• Current LPN license with the Minnesota state board of nursing upon hire or current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant, or verifiable completion of a Medical Assistant Program (must become certified within one year of hire and pass certification within two attempts).
• AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 3 months of hire.

Pay

Compensation Range: $21.72 - $32.58 per hour
