LPN or Medical Assistant - 28 Hour Flex - Brainerd Family Medicine

Building Location: Brainerd Clinic, Brainerd, Minnesota

About the role

Essentia Health is seeking a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or certified medical assistant (CMA) to serve in the family medicine practice at our Brainerd Clinic. This position offers a $2,500 sign-on incentive.

Schedule

• 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday
• Typically one or two weekdays off per week (flex position)
• Hours may be adjusted upward or downward without notice based on facility needs
• No weekend, holiday, or on-call rotations required
• 0.7 FTE (24+ hours weekly)

Responsibilities

• Patient Care and Monitoring: Perform routine assessments such as measuring vital signs, recording patient histories, and observing symptoms to assist in diagnosing and monitoring patient health.
• Assisting with Procedures: Support physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and minor procedures by preparing equipment, assisting with patient positioning, and ensuring proper infection control.
• Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications, including injections and oral drugs, and monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Coordination of Care: Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans, and assist in coordinating follow-up appointments and referrals.
• Patient Intake and Preparation: Conduct initial patient intake processes, including gathering medical histories, updating personal information, and preparing patients for examination or diagnostic testing.

Cares for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly.

Requirements

• LPN: Current LPN license with the Minnesota state board of nursing upon hire.
• CMA: Current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant OR verifiable completion of a Medical Assistant Program and must become certified within one year of date of hire. Must pass certification within two attempts.
• Both: AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 3 months of hire.

Pay

Compensation range: $21.72 - $32.58 per hour
